A lifelong active member of St. Mary’s in Rock Hill, Gwen is the proud mother of one daughter, and godmother to three boys and one girl.

Gwen attended Sacred Heart College in Belmont, NC where she was the freshman class president, played softball, basketball and soccer. On Friday’s she drove a bus that picked up seniors to bring them on an outing to the college.  At York Technical College she graduated with a degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in accounting.  She has served her parish on many levels in the Girl Scouts from Brownies through Cadets always knowing that the girls learn by example.  She formed a Girls Club that met once a week to plan activities for community service.  Gwen has continued to support her parish by working in the Parish Office, singing in the Choir, working with the children in Vacation Bible School, and making them three meals a day.  She is a lector, Minister of the Eucharist, volunteer at the Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen, serves on the Parish Council,  a member of the Social Justice Ministry, Stewardship Committee, Bereavement Ministry and serves as the current President of the St. Mary Rosary and Confraternity of SCCCW.  Gwen’s connection to council goes back to when her mother served SCCCW, and Gwen was a President of the Columbia Midlands Deanery.  In 2015, Gwen is a founding member of the Rock Hill Deanery and the first to serve as Vice President. She presently serves as the President Elect of the Rock Hill Deanery.  Gwen’s dedication to civic matters extends from local government to the national forum.  An 8-week course at Clinton College earned her the title of “Ambassador for the City of Rock Hill and Clinton College”.  She is a silver life member of the NAACP serving as secretary.  Gwen serves as the NAACP State Conference Veterans Affairs chairperson.   She was the Rock Hill NAACP Woman of the Year. Her work with the NAACP and Untied Way aids the less fortunate with rent, utilities and mortgage difficulties.  An Active member of “Get the Vote Out” she aids in getting voters to register and show up to vote.  Gwen serves as Secretary/Treasurer of the Grey Cockerell VFW Auxiliary, a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elk, Inc and Loyal Daughter Ruler of the Elks.

On the National level she currently serves on the Grand Lodge Legal Team and is a member of the Paul Williams Court380, Ladies Auxiliary of Peter Claver.
